Best teleprompter apps for iPhone in 2026
Four of the six scroll by voice: Teleprompter.com, PromptSmart, Wispim and Speakflow. Among them, Teleprompter.com runs on iOS, Android, macOS and the web, PromptSmart adds a web control room, and Wispim’s free tier includes every prompter feature. If a speed you set is enough, CapCut is free inside the CapCut mobile app.
Two questions separate the six below. The first is whether the script follows your voice or you set a speed and chase it. The second is whether you record inside the teleprompter app or inside somebody else’s camera.
| App | How it scrolls | Where it runs | Free tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Teleprompter.com | VoiceGlide voice scrolling, plus fixed and timed | iOS, Android, macOS, web | Free exports carry a watermark; feature availability varies by platform |
| PromptSmart | VoiceTrack voice scrolling | iOS, Android, a Windows and macOS Studio Edition, web control room | Free sign-up; Starter Pack, Teams and Enterprise above it |
| Wispim | Voice, Sound or Constant; Voice follows the words you said | iPhone app, iOS 16 or later; iPad app, iPadOS 16 or later; Mac app, macOS 13 or later; separate browser teleprompter | Six prompter takes, every prompter feature, unlimited scripts |
| Speakflow | Flow voice scrolling, or manual | iOS app, browser, desktop app | Flow, which their pricing page calls unlimited and their docs give a monthly allowance; seven-day script history |
| BIGVU | A speed you set | iOS, Android, web | 720p with a watermark, up to nine minutes per video |
| CapCut | A speed you set | Inside the CapCut mobile app | Free |
Competitor details last checked on 31 October 2026, from each company’s own website and, for Speakflow’s iOS app, its App Store listing. This is desk research, not a side-by-side hands-on comparison; Wispim’s Camera, Instagram and TikTok compatibility comes from internal tests.
Teleprompter.com, if you want one app to do the lot
Teleprompter.com calls itself a “studio-grade teleprompter app”, and it is the broadest of the six. Beside VoiceGlide, its site lists fixed and timed scrolling, 4K recording with background blur, subtitles built from the script, and remote control by Apple Watch, Bluetooth keyboard, game controller or foot pedal. The FAQ on its pricing page says there are “no limits on video length, number of recordings, or script storage on any of our plans”; the same page says free exports carry a watermark and that feature availability varies by platform. The comparison with Wispim sets out the differences.
PromptSmart, if a producer is driving
PromptSmart is built around VoiceTrack. Their site says it scrolls as you speak, stops when you pause or improvise, and picks the script back up when you return to it. A Supported Languages block on its home page names five for VoiceTrack: English, Español, Français, Русский and Deutsch, so it does not imply that every language works. Its most distinctive part is the web control room, where somebody else pushes edits to your prompter live and clones the display across screens. That makes it a stage tool.
Wispim, if you record in somebody else’s camera app
Wispim is the narrowest of the six. It runs on iPhone with iOS 16 or later, on iPad with iPadOS 16 or later, and on Mac with macOS 13 or later, where the script stays in a floating panel above a call. On the iPhone, the script moves into a floating window that stays on top of Camera, Instagram or TikTok while you record there. The window is Wide, Tall or Strip, rotatable, and snaps to a corner like Picture in Picture. On iPhone it can also record the video itself, with the script in front of you, and saves it to Photos. Voice mode follows the words you said, so pausing, speeding up and repeating a line all behave, and it keeps following through a take in those three apps, which are the tested ones. If some other app does take the microphone, the text holds on the word you reached, and a note at the top of the screen and the floating window say “Mic busy”. When sound comes back they say “Listening again” and reading carries on from the same word. That is always on, with no setting. Nothing inside the window responds to touch, an iOS constraint, which is why there are voice commands in ten languages and volume-button controls. The buttons are marked Experimental and do not work inside camera apps.
Speakflow, if scripts are a team sport
Speakflow runs in the browser and has a native iOS app; its pages call it “the teleprompter that follows your voice”. Flow follows speech on the free plan too: the pricing page calls it unlimited, while their docs give free signed-in accounts a monthly allowance. Manual scrolling is available too. The pitch is the writing side: share scripts with a team, label them, track changes, and scroll a tablet from your phone. On the Plus plan, Overlay floats the script over other apps, and the desktop app, marked Beta, comes with Plus and Studio. The comparison with Speakflow has the details.
BIGVU, if the video is marketing
BIGVU calls itself “AI Video for Realtors, Coaches & Marketers”, and the prompter is one station on a long line: record, auto-caption, delete the “um”s by striking words out of a transcript, correct eye contact, apply a brand kit, publish everywhere at once. The prompter itself is speed-based. Its home page says to “adjust scrolling speed and text size to match your cadence”, so it is not following you. The comparison sets the whole pipeline against the prompter.
CapCut, if it is already on your phone
CapCut’s teleprompter is not a separate download. It sits inside the recording screen of the CapCut mobile app, where you set the scroll speed, move and resize the prompter panel, then edit the take without leaving. That is a real advantage if CapCut is already your editor, and their page says plainly that “CapCut’s teleprompt app is free”. Two limits come with it. Their pages offer the prompter in that app and nowhere else, and list no desktop or web version. The speed is one you set, so a single ad-lib leaves you reading behind the text.
What the free tiers cover
Teleprompter.com gives away the most if you record in-app and accept a watermark. CapCut costs nothing and is already installed, but you chase the scroll. Speakflow is free in a browser, with Flow included. Wispim is free with six prompter takes and every prompter feature; Pro lifts the limit and adds import from TXT, Markdown, PDF, DOCX and RTF. It comes as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time purchase.
The other question is where you record. Every one of these ships a recorder of its own, Wispim on iPhone included, and the file comes out of it on that app’s terms. Wispim is also built to sit on top of somebody else’s camera, in a floating window over Camera, Instagram or TikTok.
