iPhone Duo

A teleprompter for iPhone Duo, open or folded.

In version 1.2, Wispim fills the large inner display of iPhone Duo. Fold it like a laptop or a book, and while you read, the script and its controls stay clear of the fold.

We checked Wispim on iPhone Duo in Apple’s simulator. We have not tried it on a real iPhone Duo yet.

The whole inner display

Wispim fills the large inner display of iPhone Duo from edge to edge. That holds with the phone open upright or on its side, and folded like a laptop or like a book.

Folded like a laptop or a book

Fold iPhone Duo like a laptop, and the script sits above the fold with the controls below it. Fold it like a book, and the script is on the left, with the controls on the right. While you read, the script and its controls stay clear of the fold.

Controls in a rail

During a take, the controls move into a rail at the right edge when the phone is closed, open on its side, or in the right half of Split View, and the script runs beside the rail. Open upright, the controls sit in a strip along the top.

The Start screen, Settings and the Pro screen use the rail too, and on the open display each of them is one column in the middle.

Closed, and in Split View

On the closed display, Wispim works as on any iPhone and keeps its iPhone layout. So does either half of Split View. In a take, the left half keeps the iPhone’s bar of controls, and the right half moves them into the rail.

Text that turns a quarter turn at a time

Rotate text on the Start screen turns the script a quarter turn clockwise with each tap, and so does the rotate button among the take’s controls. A long press puts it upright again. The angle is one setting for the whole phone. Rotation came to every iPhone with version 1.1.

Film yourself with the back camera

Film yourself with the back camera and read your script on the outer display.

Record video with your script in front of you, using the front or back camera, with sound. The script follows your voice while you record, and videos are saved to Photos.

What is free, and what Pro adds

Free and Pro are the same on iPhone Duo as on any iPhone. The free app gives you 6 prompter takes and unlimited scripts, and opening the camera counts as one take. Pro removes the take limit and adds import from TXT, Markdown, PDF, DOCX and RTF. One purchase covers iPhone, iPad and Mac on the same Apple Account.

Pro is $9.99 a month, $69.99 a year or $199.99 once, in US dollars; the App Store shows the price in your currency.
